Importing luxury vehicles and caravans into Australia can be challenging and recent first time importer Ben Gray of Canberra says it pays to be well organised.
“I’m generally a well organised person, but it pays to organise things weeks ahead. I started organising it six weeks ahead and it made everything run much smoother, there was no last minute rushing,” he says.
Mr Gray recently imported a caravan from the United Kingdom. He chose to import a van because he was able to source one at a lower price that was much more lightweight than local caravans and more technologically advanced.
He says getting good advice when importing from overseas is really important and the company that supplied the caravan provide a really comprehensive guide on all that needed to be done to import the vehicle.
“I would definitely recommend going through customs agents,” he says. Having a comprehensive quote from Transvoras that covered everything including container return cost and transport costs meant he knew exactly what the process would cost, with no extra surprises once the caravan arrived in Australia.
The biggest challenge was collecting the caravan from a very busy depot in Sydney and navigating the trucks and semis with his private car and new caravan attached.
The team at Transvoras wish Ben and his family many happy holidays in their new caravan.
